have warnings about additional software needed to run the app

No warning until the first time you run it that Quicltime is necessary. The again, the makers don't warn you on their product page either, wonder why. All in all, anything that needs Quicktime to run is junk and a definite no no on piece of kit of mine. Uninstalled as quickly as I could find the Uninstall link in its start menu entry.
